A normal chain drive should work under lubrication without moisture or abrasive. If an outdoor application is selected the operational life of the chain will be reduced. The reduction of the life will be taken into account by the program if selected. Abrasives will reduce the life time of the chain due to wear. This will be taken into account, when the abrasive environment is selected.
The selection of outdoor applications and abrasives have to be selected independently. Please note that Abrasive Application is not available for the Renold Syno, Renold Syno Stainless Steel and Renold Stainless Steel chains because these chains must not be used in such environment.
The Renold Chain Selector v1.0 web does not take into account the effects of the temperature on the working life of the chains. It is assumed that the chains are used at room temperature. For extreme temperatures please contact one of our sales offices.
